And, the Muswellbrook unit is hitting the local streets now, visiting business houses in town.
Today’s Girl Guides program extends beyond singing songs around a campfire.
Guiding gives them a chance to be around like-minded girls.
It’s a place where girls make new friends, grow in self-confidence, learn skills and experience adventure.
Muswellbrook Girl Guides unit leader Sally Jackson explained that through selling biscuits, Guides learn to set goals, work in teams, develop a business sense and ethics, and manage money.
“These are important life skills and the girls have a lot of fun at the same time,” she said.
“This year we are hoping to sell 50 boxes to raise funds for hall bathroom improvements.
“We’ll be out and about next week, so if anyone would like us to drop in, phone district manager Chris Rogers on 0412 957 248.
“We get some great support from local organisations, like the Muswellbrook Apex Club, who recently provided funds and labour to install a wonderful new kitchen in our hall.”
The biscuits are on sale for a limited time only, with 100 per cent of the funds raised from each $3.50 packet, including traditional, mini choc-chip or gluten-free shortbread, supporting local and national Guide programs throughout Australia.
So remember when a Girl Guide has the courage to ask you “Wanna buy a Girl Guide biscuit?”, every biscuit has a goal.
The Muswellbrook Girl Guides are also getting ready for the Great Guide Book Bonanza to be held in conjunction with the St. Alban’s Spring Fair on Saturday, August 26.
“We have hundreds of titles for sale at bargain prices,” Mrs Jackson said.
“Each book is only $1 or you can purchase a bag full for $10.
“Do you have books you would like to donate?
“Please contact us and we will call around and collect them; or you can bring them to our Guide Hall in Wilkinson Avenue.”
