Despite yet another solid defensive effort by the Cats, they eventually went down to the Magpies by 50 points, 11.12.78 to 4.4.28.
The performance once again showed the improvements the Cats have made throughout the season, with only an inability to play four quarters preventing them from recording more wins.
Muswellbrook’s best players were Matt Dunn, Cam Benkovic, Dom White and Lachlan Watts.
In the GE Women’s final game, the Cats also showed their improvement despite losing to finals-bound Wyong Lakes by 88 points.
Despite the tough year, the women will regroup in the off-season and come back stronger in 2018.
Muswellbrook was best served by Ashleigh Barrowcliffe, Gyarn Rawson, Eila Mills and Tiarne Forder.
Next week in the Black Diamond Plate, Muswellbrook welcomes Lake Macquarie to Weeraman Field for their last game of the season with the Cats keen to end 2017 on a high.
