Hunter Valley Local Area Command hosted a National Police Remembrance Day service to reflect on those who had lost their lives while serving.
Hunter Valley Local Area Commander Superintendent Steven Clarke said it was a day to simply recognise the contribution of NSW Police in the community.
“We definitely have massive community support, but I think it gives them an opportunity to come along and say to the cops ‘thank you very much for a job well done’,” he said.
“It was good to see a couple of kids here, that’s always good, and some retired police as well.
“We’re really grateful.
“It’s great to see the Army guys here too.
“Obviously we have a relationship with them, and it goes without saying, the sacrifice that they also make.”
