Residents interested in replacing their wood heaters should contact either council to take advantage of the offer before it finishes on October 31.
A Flue Cleaning rebate of $50 is also available.
All flue cleans must be completed by October 31 to be eligible for the $50 rebate.
Muswellbrook Shire Council sustainability coordinator Mark Scandrett said rebates of $1500 were being offered for the replacement of old wood-fired heaters with cleaner sources of heating.
“The rebate is $1500 and that should cover a significant proportion of the cost of replacing your wood heater,” he said.
“Reverse-cycle air-conditioning will also help to keep your house cool on the hot summer days that are fast approaching.”
Singleton Council director of planning and infrastructure Mark Ihlein says anyone thinking about replacing their wood heater with an air-conditioning unit or gas heater should contact council now to ensure that they don’t miss out on the rebate.
“The Cleaner Heating rebates are being offered as part of grant funding from the Environment Protection Authority,” he said.
“Due to the nature of the funding we are unable to guarantee that the rebate will be offered again in future.”
