The fifth annual Muswellbrook Arts Fair once again comes to Lions Park, home of The Pot House and hub of some of the town’s most artistic minds.
The event has grown in those short few years to attract the attention of some of the country’s top artists, some of whom will be making the trip from Sydney to mix it with the locals.
Even if you don’t have an artistic bone in your body, there will be something for the whole family at this free event.
The Pot House located in Lions Park has been a hive of activity this week as members scrape the slaps of paint and clay from the floor to make sure it is ready for the guests.
“There will be lots of hands-on activities and demonstrations, it’s an opportunity for people to speak to various artists about their work and maybe give it a go,” said Muswellbrook Arts Centre manager Brad Franks.
Raku fire pits will be in operation just outside The Pot House and visitors will have the opportunity to dapple in the art and make their own ceramic art work.
Among the new attractions this year is felt artist Denise Lithgwo who is based in Sydney and keen to share her knowledge to Arts Fair visitors.
Thee will also be plenty of food and entertainment including rockabilly sweetheart Shelley Minson, buskers and belly dancers as well as Lachlan Phelps playing the didgeridoo.
“It is a chance to expose the locals of the Upper Hunter to the various arts they can do in the region so we hope people take the opportunity,” Brad said.
The fair is from 10am to 3.30pm.
