On Thursday, November 30, Denman RSL Sub-Branch and Denman Rotary Club presented the annual Denman RSL Club Bursary.
Representatives from Denman, Martindale, Sandy Hollow, Bylong and Scone schools attended the event, along with their families.
Any student in participating schools are eligible to, if they have a family member who is a financial of Denman RSL Club.
Entrants take a two-part test and one student is awarded the bursary.
It does not necessarily go to the student with the highest mark.
It could be awarded to a student who may need financial assistance in high school.
The recipient receives $300 initially, followed by $100 per year during their high school years.
For 36 years, the Denman RSL Club Bursary has been supporting local students, and will continue to do so in the future.
This year’s guest speaker was Muswellbrook High School principal Elizebeth Bate, who told students what they could expect when beginning high school.
This year’s recipient was Xavier Lever.
The Denman RSL and Denman Rotary wish him well in his high school years.
