Her passion for volunteering began at 13, and, for the past eight years, she has continued to look for ways to brighten her community.
On Thursday, the Muswellbrook woman was recognised for her efforts with an Australia Day honour.
At the official proceedings at the indoor sports centre, Miss Foster was named Muswellbrook Shire’s 2017 Young Citizen of the Year.
Some of her achievements include establishing and growing her own dance studio – Expressions School of Dance.
And, this year she is welcoming 40 new students, which will bring the total to 170.
Her nominee said Miss Foster had guided her students to national competitions, and they have gone on to win many awards.
Miss Foster thanked Muswellbrook council for the acknowledgment.
“I feel very honoured, but I’m also shocked,” she said.
“I just love being a part of the community.”
Taya Elphinstone, James Drayton, Jesse Streader, Lara Collins, Blake Shackleton, Jack (Shi Yu) Lee, Imogen O’Leary, Talesin Court-Kriesch, and Brydie Parker were also nominated for the annual award.
