Liquor & Gaming NSW (L&GNSW) recently approved the application “in principle”, much to the relief of Daryl Egan.
The Muswellbrook RSL Club CEO said he was pleased the next stage had proceeded without drama.
“I received an email saying the L&GNSW had considered the application to transfer the club licence, held by the Muswellbrook Golf Club and Muswellbrook RSL, for the purposes of the amalgamation of the two clubs,” he explained.
“And, that it’d been given the green light ‘in principle’.
“I wasn’t expecting any issues.
“But, the licence won’t be transferred and the amalgamation won’t take effect until we advise the L&GNSW of the proposed settlement date.
“Overall, the process will still take a couple of months, just going through the legalities and compliance formalities.”
In September, presidents Barry Eveleigh (RSL) and John Dyson (golf club) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which the members voted on.
Then, on October 5, the proposal obtained a “majority vote” at the golf club, which was similarly followed up at the RSL club on October 8.
The Muswellbrook RSL Golf Club, as it will be known, is also expected to undergo a facelift.
“During the interim period, the outside of the clubhouse was painted,” Mr Egan said.
“In the meantime, we’re still undertaking improvements on the premises.
“We want to spruce it up a bit.”
