Twins returning to the school are Regan and Mackenzie Catling in Year 1, and Aidan and Alani Moon in Year 2.
But, perhaps the most keen of them all are the kindergarten twins, five year olds Stella and Archie Medhurst, who will start this Friday, though they have been trying on their uniforms and packing their bags and pencil cases for days.
Their dad Michael Medhurst is also looking forward to Friday, which will mean all four of the family’s kids will be at the school.
At assembly on Tuesday morning, principal and Year 2 dad Aaron Moon officially welcomed the school’s 10 new students whose presence takes the population to 107, the first time there have ever been more than 100 pupils.
Mr Moon has been St Joseph’s principal since 2009 and believes the school’s success in attracting more students is about values, the top three being respect, honesty and compassion.
“We have a good product, our education is top-notch, we have great teachers and the values taught here are second to none,” he explained.
“People still want values, they don’t want to see it in the future, they want to see it now.”
No doubt at their first opportunity, all pupils will race out to try the new ninja warrior course that was built over summer which includes a rock climbing wall, a zip line, cargo nets, quad jumps and The Wall.
Mr Moon said student ideas put forward for the playground last year had been incorporated, including a deck and chalkboard, as well as a sand pit upgrade which includes a dry creek bed and a boat.
“We aim to encourage imaginative, creative and active play,” he said.
