About 10.30pm on Saturday, February 3, the 36-year-old victim was looking for his keys as he walked past the accused’s unit in the same street.
The 19-year-old invited the older man in to have a drink.
There was later an argument between the pair – and the victim left the premises.
Throughout the night/morning, both of them had several physical altercations.
About 4.30am on Sunday, February 4, the victim returned to the accused’s unit where they had another argument.
Following this, the 36-year-old left and the 19-year-old followed him into the front yard grass area of a nearby residence in Muswellbrook.
A further physical altercation occurred.
The victim attempted to walk away from the accused but he continued to follow him.
The teenager followed the man up a staircase, located at the front of a unit complex.
He then produced a knife – and struck the victim approximately five times to the body.
About 4.55am, police and NSW Ambulance officers arrived at the scene.
The victim was treated by paramedics before being conveyed via ambulance to the John Hunter Hospital and treated for his wounds.
The 19-year-old was arrested shortly after in the vicinity of the stabbing and conveyed to Muswellbrook Police Station where he was charged.
