Council has praised residents and businesses for heeding the call to minimise water use during the period as firefighters battled fires in the Wollemi National Park and parts of the shire.
While no official restrictions were in place, locals were urged to limit outside usage, such as watering gardens, washing cars and hosing down concrete.
Cooperation in reducing water consumption and using the precious resource wisely during the hot and dry conditions was appreciated.
While the fires are now under control, high temperatures are set to continue in the region and residents are urged to take precautions.
A Very High fire danger rating remains in place for the Greater Hunter region.
