NSW National Parks and Wildlife Services (NPWS) will kick off the 1080 ground baiting program on May 1 and will continue until June 30.
Manobalai Nature Reserve, west of Muswellbrook, Belford National Park, west of Branxton, and NPWS-managed land adjacent to Black Creek at North Rothbury will be three of the Hunter areas targeted in the program.
The initiative will also include an aerial baiting drop in the Manobalai Nature Reserve from May 1 to May 15.
The NPWS have moved to remind owners that 1080 baits are lethal to all dogs.
The NPWS recommends that working dogs be restrained or muzzled when working on properties near the bait drops.
All areas involved in the program will be signposted at the entry points.
Wild dogs cause hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage to livestock throughout regional NSW every year.
