A grant was received at the end of 2016 to replace the showers and toilets with one new building to incorporate both amenities.
The building was erected by 2017 but more funds were needed for the finishing touches like a verandah, turf surrounds and security doors to deter damage by persons unknown.
This is where the Aberdeen Treasures stepped in.
At the previous meeting of the Aberdeen Campdraft committee, Carole Johnson and Janet Parsons from Aberdeen Treasures attended and presented the organisation with a cheque of $2000 to assist with costs needed to complete the “finishing touches”.
“On top of that, they have ordered some more picnic tables to be erected by the Upper Hunter Shire, who had put down the cement base and built the other tables, replacing the old worn out tables from the late 80s when the grounds were relocated from Jefferson Park,” publicity officer Carol Bowen said.
“Other users such as the National Trail network and campers will also appreciate the new amenities and surrounds of the beautiful shady St Andrews Reserve.
“A meeting will be held shortly to determine if we will be able to hold a Campdraft this year.”
