At about 5.17am, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 392 Muswellbrook’s pumper responded to a haystack fire at Kayuga.
The crew was joined by Fire and Rescue NSW Station 208 Aberdeen, the Kayuga Rural Fire Brigade, Edinglassie Rural Fire Brigade, Mangoola Rural Fire Brigade and McCullys Gap Rural Fire Brigade.
On arrival, the firies found several round bales of hay alight – and donned breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.
They remained on the scene for a short time, after the initial knockdown, before heading back to the station.
The Rural Fire Service units remained to continue firefighting operations.
