Other materials such as hats were also provided but the addition of the iPads, which will double as electronic scoring sheets, will make the tedious work a lot easier.
It will also mean the coach won’t have to manually copy the stats onto MyCricket the following day, as the scores can be uploaded and even updated in real time.
Mach Energy general manager Richard Bailey said it was a great way for the company to show its support towards local organisations.
“We focus on supporting young community members and community groups and sporting groups across Muswellbrook,” he said.
“We’re just pleased to be able to support the local cricket club and hope the iPads make it a lot easier for coaches and volunteers.
“A lot of effort goes into volunteering, so just being able to support that is great.”
He’s hoping the new equipment can make a significant difference – and said he knows how frustrating the old set-up could be.
“I’m a father of four, myself,” Bailey admitted.
“I’m used to scoring on the old paper-based system.
“And, to move to a digital format that goes straight into Cricket Australia will be very helpful to the club hopefully.”
MJCC president Peter Cooper is ecstatic with the new resources and also believes they could make a major difference.
“This is certainly a tremendous thing for the junior club,” he said.
“Technology is the way of the future, scoring in the books these days is an antiquated form of scoring.”
Cooper took the opportunity to thank Mach Energy for its sponsorship.
He said the more attention they receive, the more attractive cricket becomes to youngsters, which will hopefully reflected with increased numbers in the future.
