To decide on the colour, the makers of Taubmans hosted a workshop with more than 20 global colour stylists from the automotive, consumer electronics, aerospace and home paint industries. The experts then analyse runway trends, lifestyles, demographics, geographies and global and cross-cultural societal inspirations to forecast what colours will resonate, including the paint company’s chosen Colour of the Year.
Taubmans predict this particular shade of green to be the hot new hue next year, lending itself perfectly to introducing nature inside the home. The deep and sophisticated colour can be used to create balanced and harmonic spaces, and is a natural progression from the pink palettes that have proved so popular.
Encompassing the tones of a dense tropical jungle, Night Watch is chic, effortlessly timeless, and destined to be a favourite in both the home and workplace, given society’s urge to reconnect with nature in today’s tumultuous world.
“Green is a colour we will be seeing so much more of in 2019, from forest to sea foam and all tints and shades in between,” says Taubmans colour consultant, Grace Garrett, who sees nature-inspired tones playing a huge part in home trends in 2019.

“It makes perfect sense that we are seeking to bring the calmness and soothing power of Night Watch into our decor, given the trend to bring the outdoors in.
“From a psychological perspective, green creates an equilibrium between the head and the heart, perfect to establish a space that encompasses balance and harmony.”
According to Garrett, Night Watch uses a tone which can be adapted to an array of styles using a variety of furniture and accessories, from the velvet and marble of Hollywood glamour to the raw, natural materials that are associated with tribal trends. “In terms of a colour palette, Night Watch’s versatility means it pairs well with a multitude of tones, such as Taubmans Ionian, Dusky Taupe and Rusty Rail,” she says.
Taubmans DIY and renovation expert, Cherie Barber says the colour makes it easy to transform a small space into a calming living area. “The answer to a greener life indoors is as simple as letting nature in – in more ways than one. Taubmans’ Night Watch brings the healing power of the outdoors inside your home, creating a modern yet comfortable space.”
