Chris Rogers knitted 20 handmade poppies that featured in the display of 62,000 spread across Parliament House and The Australian War Memorial to acknowledge Remembrance Day.

Mrs Rogers sent them through approximately four years ago when the target was just 5000, however that quickly grew.

She acknowledges that while it was a small piece of a much larger project, she is still pleased to have been involved.

She said it took more than three hours to create the artificial flowers, but her sacrifice of time was nothing compared to the sacrifice troops made during the war.

“I’ve had friends go to see the display and they talk about how moving it was and how emotional it became,” Mrs Rogers said.

“And, when you think your poppy represents a solider, who actually died during service, it makes it very special.”
