And, that's exactly why St Joseph's Primary School Denman hosted its own leadership program this week.
On Monday, the Year five and six students partook in several activities, including role playing, to improve and develop new skills.
Students David and Diesel were two of the standouts and already look set to become great role models for the younger students in 2019.
"I think leadership has a lot to do with respect, and understanding each other too," Diesel said.
David agreed and revealed the enjoyment he gets out of being involved in these types of events.
"I think it's good to learn new things and then we can be a good example for the little kids," he said.
The tenacity of these youngsters is a good sign for the future and it also makes life easier for parents, teachers and the new principal Helen Whale.
