And, this week, Aberdeen Pre-School will acknowledge the occasion - with a little help from their friends or local "superheroes".
"The children always look forward to it," director Sharon Jordan said.
"Book Week also allows us to develop their literacy skills.
"So, we've invited people from throughout the community to read to the kids each day.
"The Aberdeen Tigers lent a hand [today], while St Joseph's High School's drama students are taking part on Tuesday.
"Then we'll host Aberdeen Treasures' volunteer Joy Dallah, Aberdeen Care Package Cadets' leader Carole Johnston, and staff members from Upper Hunter Community Services, too.
"The youngsters will dress up on a couple of occasions throughout the week as well."
It's been a busy time for the Upper Hunter pre-school, who also welcomed the 17th annual Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour earlier in the month.
