And, incredibly, now Muswellbrook locals will have the chance to see him in person.
The internationally-renowned comedian will take to the stage at the Muswellbrook RSL Club on Saturday, September 21, as part of his Open for Renovations tour.
Securing his services is a coup for the town, with the part-time actor also completing shows in cities such as Sydney and Hobart.
The Cairo-born Australian icon, who is also well-known due to television appearances on shows like Have You Been Paying Attention? and Good News Week, spoke about what people should expect from his shows.
"It'll be comedy, an attempt at comedy," he quipped.
"People have different expectations.
"I always say if you like my sense of humour, if you like my style and aren't offended - or even if you are offended but want to be entertained by it - then come.
"Comedy is like music because not everyone is into the same music and into the same songs and what connects with you might not connect with someone else."
He addressed the fact this is towards the lower end of the scale in terms of show sizes, but said he finds satisfaction in every performance.
"Every night is different and I enjoy every night differently," Akmal said.
"So, sometimes you go and it's a big crowd and it's buzzing but you don't feel connected as much as with a small crowd in a small country town.
"I just love performing and the longer I do it the more I love it, it just gives me a thrill whether the audience is 200 or 2000.
"It doesn't change the joy you get out of it; it's not relative to how big the audience is."
Despite the 54-year-old's brand of humour winning him many fans across the years, some have taken offence to his jokes and anecdotes, although he said his intention is never to irritate people.
He stated that being consciously controversial doesn't bode well for most comedians, and he simply says what he does in the hope that people enjoy it.
The show will take place at the Muswellbrook RSL Club on Saturday, September 21, from 8pm.
