The Muswellbrook Touch Association kicked off its summer competition earlier this month, with a record number of teams taking part in 2019-20.
It's the biggest participation sport in town, with between 500 and 600 players signing on this season.
And, on Monday, they all returned to the field for round two.
"It's terrific," director Paul Benkovic said.
"We have an increase in junior sides - 10 more than last year.
"Our mixed division is up a couple of squads as well.
"I also expect some late entries over the next week or so.
"All-in-all, the signs are great for a successful [competition]."
Another pleasing aspect this season - on top of the sponsorship from the Bengalla Mining Company - is the influx of officials, according to Benkovic.
"We have 16 to 20 young referees on deck," he said.
"Twelve months ago, that would be unheard of.
"In fact, I've handed over the co-coordinator's role to Liam Anderson.
"It is brilliant to have him on board."
