THE script could not have been written any better for organisers of the Drought Buster Charity Rodeo at the Muswellbrook Showground on Saturday.
Perfect conditions greeted competitors and spectators alike, with a big crowd passing through the gates for an afternoon - and evening - of free entertainment.
Music, market stalls, a raffle, food, drinks and informative displays, from organisations such as Rural Aid and Where There's A Will, added to the atmosphere.
"We're delighted by the response so far," Upper Hunter Show Society Inc president Keith Googe said.
"And, to top it off, we've been blessed by beautiful weather.
"We just want people to put everything to the back of their minds - and push their worries to the side for one day.
"They can spend time with family and friends; and enjoy themselves.
"There are rides for the kids, plus much more.
"Our thanks go to sponsors Malabar Coal, MACH Energy, Bengalla, Mangoola, BHP, Muswellbrook RSL Club and Thiess."
Muswellbrook Charity Rodeo president Brad Singleton expressed his delight, too.
"I'm thrilled with the numbers participating [today]," he said.
"We've got some terrific talent in this region, which we're delighted to showcase.
"It's a full program - with the main action starting from 6pm."
