THE Upper Hunter District Cricket Association's (UHDCA) inaugural T20 hit-out is expected to separate the men from the boys this weekend.
Following the opening couple of 40-over matches in 2019-20, all 11 UHDCA teams will contest two rounds of the "short form game" at the Bill Rose Sports Complex in Scone on Saturday, October 26.
The action starts from 12.30pm, with Merriwa facing Rouchel, Souths locking horns with Murrurundi, Bunnan meeting Belltrees, Belmore Bulls tackling the Silver Slugs and Brook Blue lining up against Aberdeen.
Afterwards, at 3.30pm, Merriwa and the Bushrangers will go head-to-head, Belmore Bulls play Aberdeen, Brook Blue heads into battle with Belltrees, Bunnan eyes off Souths and Rouchel fronts the Silver Slugs.
"With an extra team this year, and the same amount of available weeks, the decision was made to have two rounds of T20s to make sure we completed two full rounds," a spokesperson from the UHDCA said.
"Based on the back of the rise of the Big Bash and other short-form tournaments, the additional side provided us with the opportunity to incorporate these games into our competition.
"With five matches each round, the Bill Rose Sports Complex should be a great place to be this Saturday, creating a carnival atmosphere and some exiting cricket.
"This is the first time this has happened in Scone.
"It should be a terrific spectacle for anyone who's interested in cricket or sport in general."
