Do not despair, the Muswellbrook Race Club (MRC) is offering a neat alternative to view Australia's prestigious thoroughbred event over 3200m this month.
The organisation will host its annual Melbourne Cup Day meeting at the Skellatar Park circuit.
And, general manager Duane Dowell eagerly anticipates another strong throng of race-goers to be on hand on Tuesday, November 5.
"Melbourne Cup Day, at Muswellbrook, is completely different to all the others [here]," he said.
"It's an older crowd; and we attract a lot more visitors.
"Surprisingly, very few locals support Melbourne Cup Day in town, which is a bit disappointing.
"But, it's still a great occasion."
A big screen will be set-up trackside at the club, to ensure everyone has an opportunity to watch "the race that stops the nation".
Locally, the Mayor's Cup and Bowman Sprint is on the MRC program.
"There's so much racing on that day, however we still receive good fields," Dowell said.
"And, it's easy to place a bet here."
Before all the attention turns to Melbourne, however, MRC will also stage Ladies Day - and the Sandy Hollow Cup - on Sunday, November 3.
"That is an extremely popular meeting," Dowell said.
"All the women flock to the club.
"There's free entry [that day] and Fashions on the Field, with cash prizes and vouchers.
"Upstairs is booked out already, too.
"Bernadette McLoughlin, the general manager wagering NSW/ACT at Tabcorp Holdings Limited, will host the luncheon, along with Sky Racing expert Gary Harley.
"He'll also provide a few tips on the local card."
With good weather predicted, Dowell said there was no reason not to attend Muswellbrook's "mini carnival".
"We're looking forward to two excellent days of racing," he added.
"Each meeting boasts seven races.
"And, the track is in outstanding order.
"It's the best it's been for this time of year.
"After making a couple of tweaks, track manager Steve Bottomley has done a terrific job."
