INSPIRATIONAL Muswellbrook teenager Yasmin Jimmieson is in the running for a prestigious honour at the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards.
Organisers have received hundreds of nominations from, and on behalf of, individuals under the age of 29 from NSW and the ACT.
While judging will take place on Wednesday, December 11, the winners won't be announced until the Gala Presentation Dinner on Friday, March 20.
The victors in each category collect a trophy and more than $2000 worth of prizes, made up of a $1500 Bartercard Trade Account, $500 cash from Awards Australia and a $300 voucher from Fly Pelican.
Ms Jimmieson is vying for the First National Real Estate Leadership Award.
The 18-year-old has contributed more than 500 hours of voluntary service, displaying dedication, commitment, guidance and selfless actions.
In 2018, she was selected as one of the Premier's Anzac Ambassadors to represent the state on a 10-day overseas tour, which included destinations such as Greece, Belgium, France and London.
She also motivates future generations of young people in rural and regional NSW.
"Yasmin's always wanted to help, no matter how big or small the task may be," her mum Paula said.
"Since she turned 16, she's been a member of the State Emergency Service (SES) in Muswellbrook.
"Yasmin attends weekly training nights and is exposed to several leadership roles, training and team building experiences.
"Her skills have been further developed from attending the Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) seminar camp.
"She's continued to volunteer as a mentor to give back to others the experiences she learnt herself while being there.
"Throughout the years, Yasmin's been involved in several other smaller community acts that include: being a member of the Catafalque party for an Anzac service at her school; volunteer work with Vacation Care during the holidays at the PCYC in Taree; participated in the All Stars, a local community event - partnered by integratedliving and St Joseph's High School Aberdeen - with a week-long commitment during the school break; selected as a wellbeing leader for students; a transitioned mentor for the One Door Mental Health 'On Fire' youth group; and much more.
"She believes that everyone has something to give, no matter how big or how small.
"We're very proud of her - and her nomination."
Ms Jimmieson's passion is to join the Australian Defence Force and become an officer in the Air Force.
