THEY might not have had much to play for but that didn't stop the Aberdeen Tigers and Singleton Greyhounds from giving it "their all" at Muswellbrook's Olympic Park on Friday night.
In the showdown between third and fourth, of the Hunter Valley Group 21 Rugby League Women's 11s, the Tigers sharpened their claws and roared to a comprehensive 32-6 win over a weakened opponent.
But, the Greyhounds were gallant in defeat and actually led 6-0 mid-way through the opening half.
Amber Russell darted past the defence to touch down, and then duly converted her own try.
However, that seemed to wake Aberdeen from its slumber.
In the 13th minute, Kelsey French crossed over and, when Robyn Draper added the extras, levelled the scores at 6-all.
Just before the break, Harmony Liddell powered her way through the defence. Although Draper missed the shot, the Tigers went to the interval ahead 10-6.
Afterwards, it was all one-way traffic.
Draper (21st minute), French (30th), Caitlin Albury (38th) and Olivia Warren (40th) all scored tries of their own.
Albury also landed two conversions, with Draper successful with another goal.
The Greyhounds' cause was hampered greatly when Russell was carried from the field with a leg injury.
In the main encounter, the Merriwa Magpies claimed their second consecutive title after beating the Murrurundi Mavericks 34-6.
