A WOMAN who stated she was "just cooking something different for her children for dinner" is alleged to have breached a Total Fire Ban directive in the Upper Hunter at the weekend.
About 7.50pm on Sunday, November 17, Hunter Valley Police District officers were called to a residence in Muswellbrook.
They'd received reports a fire was burning in the backyard of a home despite a Total Fire Ban being implemented in the region.
As police walked to the backyard, the 37-year-old female resident quickly extinguished the fire with a bucket of water.
She'll be dealt with for violating a Total Fire Ban.
Surprisingly, it's the second "local" offence in the past week.
Emergency crews were also called to a home at Long Point Road East, near Singleton, at about 9pm on November 13.
Police said a 26-year-old man was burning rubbish in a yard, less than 40m from a shed that contained potential accelerants including petrol, oil and fertiliser.
He was charged with failing to comply with a Total Fire Ban and will face Singleton Local Court on January 16.
