DESPITE their youth, three Muswellbrook athletes are pushing their boundaries and are set to compete at the Junior National Championships on Saturday.

Althea Mack, 10, Harmony Fagan, 7, and Bette Lysaught, 9 will travel to the Quay Centre, Homebush this weekend, and display their impressive physie abilities, which includes performances to contemporary music comprising of marching, exercises, aerobic warm-ups, classical ballet and modern jazz dance.

Their teacher Channy McPhee, or 'Miss Channy' to the girls, said she was extremely proud of the trio.

She stated the girls put a substantial amount of effort into qualifying for the competition, which they had all attended in previous years.

"They went to Zone Championships in Tamworth in October, and they had to get a place there to be eligible to go to the Nationals, so it's a big deal for these girls to head down there," she said.

"They train two or three times each week and haven't missed a beat since they got their place in zone through to this weekend."

All girls in her classes are extremely talented according to Ms McPhee, which made it difficult to just be taking three to the major tournament.

However, she said there was no doubt they deserved it, and even less doubt they were looking forward to it.

"They're over the moon, they're super excited [to be attending]," she said.
