AFTER months of preparation and hundreds of hours of rehearsals, students at St Joseph's High School Aberdeen will finally take to the stage to perform their musical this month.
On the night of Thursday, November 28, they'll present Back to the 80's, and put to practice the skills and routines they have been learning since February.
The story will follow character Corey Palmer, who is an adult looking back upon his final year of high school and the highs and lows that come with it.
A huge cast of 85 people will combine to entertain the audience with their acting, singing, music and 22 choreographed dances - which have been made possible due to Expression School of Dance's Amy Bower.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and can be purchased through the school or via a website.
Shows will take place on Thursday and Friday nights at 7pm, and Saturday at 1pm and 7pm.
The amount of effort that has been put into production is astronomical, and musical director Claire Dent said the pupils had been incredibly devoted.
"We have put in many, many, many hours," she said.
"We've had weekend rehearsals for the past month, dancers that are working through recesses and lunch times, the band is practising for hours outside of rehearsals... I think a good 10 hours at least are going in each week."
The development of the kids' maturity and openness throughout the journey has been a highlight, according to director Chelsea Carr.
"It's something that every child should do to build confidence, to build a rapport with others they usually wouldn't get to socialise with," she stated.
"We have leads in Year 11 mentoring Year 7 students, we have dancers who are teachers to others who have never danced before how to."
The pupils have also enjoyed their time on stage and are thoroughly looking forward to their first performance in front of a crowd.
Lead actor Daniel Blackburn said the experience had been fun to be a part of - and had high praise for those running the show.
"I've really enjoyed it," he added.
"It's been phenomenal but it wouldn't be possible without the amazing teachers we've had help out."
