EVERY year, Bengalla runs a program which sees their third year apprentices help a group they feel deserves it, and this year that was Denman Public School (DPS).
Apprentices Mitch Locke, Cashlin Murray-Mell and Chris Scriven were involved in the decision to provide their services to the school, and worked hard to produce a quality result despite facing scorching conditions on Friday.
The gardening club at DPS has long been a favourite of the students according to their principal, Megan Druitt, and the latest upgrade will see the area transformed into a modern and efficient site for agricultural skills to be learnt.
"We've started off with some very humble beginnings with our garden club, and the excitement of our children to see this new space is just great," she said.
"Research shows that children learn through play, and I think gardening is a great opportunity for them to develop their knowledge around sustainability, recycling, planting and growing.
"And we're hoping to develop this into a kitchen type program where produce from the chickens and gardens can be taken home and shared with families."
Muswellbrook High School's outdoor learning space, Muswellbrook's Hunter Park backyard blitz and Scone Public School's accessible playground for children with disabilities have been among the projects that apprentices have delivered in the past.
But Ms Druitt said the company has shifted their focus to Denman quite regularly in 2019, revealing they had also provided funding for a number of sporting programs, which she was very thankful for.
