IT'S as easy as A-B-C or 1-2-3 for Muswellbrook Public School Year 6 students Macey Cox, Sidney Murray, Elvin Kuruvilla and Shontayne Huggins.
The four mathematicians recently tallied their sums correctly to finish second in New South Wales.
It was a great result for the quartet, who faced 18 teams from throughout NSW in last Thursday's State 3 GAT Mathematics Day 2019 Grand Final, via a video link.
Principal Joan Stephens praised the youngsters for their efforts in the "very challenging competition".
"It was wonderful to hear the mathematical language exchanged between the students, as they worked collaboratively to solve the problems set," she said.
"After a tough day, the results were announced.
"We were delighted to hear that Muswellbrook Public School secured second place in this state final.
"What an outstanding achievement.
"This certainly provides further evidence that the school is a 'centre of excellence'.
"Thank you goes to Mrs Andrews, their teacher, for her passion, enthusiasm, dedication and guidance.
"Mrs Hugo and Mrs Willott need to be congratulated for their support, too.
"It's terrific that we are able to provide these excellent mathematicians with opportunities to enhance their love of learning in mathematics."
