Firefighters were still working on the Kerry Ridge, Meads Creek West and Okay Creek bushfires, which take in the Muswellbrook Shire, Singleton and Upper Hunter Shire LGAs, on Friday, December 13.
"The Kerry Ridge fire, located in the Wollemi National Park and Putty State Forest, is continuing to burn in the vicinity of the Putty Valley (Gum Tree Hole, Kindarun Mountain), near the Paddock Run fire," NSWRFS Cudgegong District deputy incident controller Inspector Troy Gersback said.
"Proposed containment lines have been identified, with plans to implement them over the coming days and weeks.
"In regards to Meads Creek West, within the Goulburn River National Park, the fire remains active to the south - north of Bylong Valley Way.
"Containment lines have been established around this activity, with crews monitoring the situation closely."
ADVICE - Kerry Ridge
(Wollemi National Park/Putty State Forest - Muswellbrook Shire Council/Singleton Council)
Listed as 'Going', the Kerry Ridge fire has currently burnt out more than 43,000 hectares of the Wollemi National Park, Putty State Forest and Coricudgy State Forest.
Along the western edge, it continues to burn to the north-east and south-west of rural properties along Coricudgy Road.
Firefighters - supported by earth-moving machinery and water-bombing aircraft - are working on establishing and consolidating lines, while reducing impact to assets in the area.
Coricudgy Road remains closed.
Due to rugged terrain, this fire continues to burn un-contained to the north (south of properties along Widden Valley Road, Blackwater Creek Trail and Baerami Creek Road).
ADVICE - Meads Creek West
(Goulburn River National Park - Upper Hunter Shire Council/ Mid-Western Regional Council)
Listed as 'Being Controlled', the Meads Creek West fire has currently burnt out more than 11,500 hectares of the Goulburn River National Park and adjoining private property.
This fire started as a result of lightning on Wednesday, November 27, and is burning across the Upper Hunter and Mid-Western LGAs.
Fire activity across the fire ground has reduced over the past 24 hours.
Firefighters, supported by earth-moving machinery and water-bombing aircraft, continue to work across the fire ground to consolidate and establish containment lines.
The fire remains active to the south - north of Bylong Valley Way.
Containment lines are established around this activity, with crews continuing to monitoring closely.
Ringwood Road remains closed.
ADVICE - Oaky Creek
(Wollemi National Park - Muswellbrook Shire Council)
Listed as 'Being Controlled', the Oaky Creek fire has currently burnt out more than 6100 hectares of the Wollemi National Park.
This fire started as a result of lightning on Tuesday, November 26, and is burning within the Muswellbrook LGA.
Firefighters - supported by local landholders, earth-moving machinery and water-bombing aircraft - continue to work on establishing containment lines and extinguishing the fire as it moves out of the national park onto open country along Weddin Valley Road.
Due to rugged terrain, it is burning un-contained along the south-eastern corner towards isolated properties situated along Nullo Mountain Road.
However, containment strategies have been developed in an attempt to reduce this spread.
Under forecast conditions, it is anticipated the south-eastern edge of this fire will join the Kerry Ridge fire in the coming days.
