Boris Johnson's Conservative party secured a stunning majority win on the back of his election campaign theme: "Get Brexit done"
One poll showed 87 per cent of Britain's Jews found Mr Corbyn to be anti-Semitic.
Mr Frydenberg said it was "fantastic" to see Mr Johnson win the poll.
"Corbyn was an extremist," Mr Frydenberg told Sky News on Monday.
"He had some pretty abhorrent views and I think some members of the (Australian) Labor party were ill-advised to get so close to such a person.
"So I was happy to see him defeated and defeated pretty substantially."
Mr Frydenberg said he had since spoken to his British counterpart, Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sajid Javid.
He said a free trade deal with Britain was a priority for Australia.
