The little fellow arrived at 7.08am on Thursday, January 9, tipping the scales at 3510 grams (7lb 7ozs).
A fortnight after greeting the world, Luke's proud parents Jason Roe and Tanya Thompson met members of the Muswellbrook Lioness Club, who acknowledge the milestone every 12 months, in the hospital's grounds this week.
First vice-president Meegan Van Der Vliet and Val McDonald presented the local couple with a certificate, with details of the birth, and a photo frame, while grabbing a quick cuddle with the gorgeous boy.
"It's a long-standing tradition for the club, honouring the first baby of the year," Mrs Van Der Vliet said.
"It is not only a keepsake for the parents - it makes them feel a bit special, too.
"And, most are happy to receive our gift.
"In some ways, it also keeps us in touch with the younger people in town.
"The baby must be born at Muswellbrook hospital; that's the main thing."
Mr Roe, like many fathers, admitted Luke was perfect in every way.
"He's really good," he said.
"We tossed up a few names.
"But, this is the one Tanya and I both liked.
"We were surprised to hear Luke was the first baby in 2020 - we thought there'd be a few before him.
"Tanya's due date was January 18, so he came early.
"In fact, he timed his arrival well as we had [extended] family in town at the time."
Luke is now a brother to Cooper-Lee, 4; Alana, 5; Kasey-Maree, 12; and Caitlan, 14.
And, the family couldn't be happier.
"We have four beautiful girls between us," Mrs Thompson said.
"Now, we've got a boy.
"He's so relaxed; we've done very well."
