2021's theme urges us all to take action for reconciliation.
Reconciliation is more than raising awareness and knowledge. As a nation, and importantly, as people, we need to move from 'safe' to 'brave' in order to advance reconciliation.
National Reconciliation Week is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements and to explore how each of us can join the national reconciliation effort.
On the June 3, 1992, the High Court of Australia delivered its landmark Mabo decision which legally recognised that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have a special relationship to the land that existed prior to colonisation and still exists today.
Muswellbrook Shire Council Aboriginal Reconciliation Committee has invited the community to the annual raising of the Aboriginal Flag and morning tea during National Reconciliation Week.
The ceremony will take place on June 3 from 10am to 11:30am at the Reconciliation Mural at Simpson Park, Market Street, Muswellbrook.
To RSVP call Muswellbrook Shire Council on 65493764 or email council@muswellbrook.nsw.gov.
