Emergency services were called to a property in Corio about 5:30pm on Wednesday after "reports a dog had bitten a child".
A girl was found with serious cuts and paramedics took her to Geelong University Hospital.
The child is in a stable condition in hospital with "serious lower body injuries", Ambulance Victoria said.
Police and a local ranger attended the scene.
