March 18-19: Muswellbrook Showground. Cost: $5 per child-$50 family (2A, 3C). Time: 7.30am-9pm Friday, 8am-til late Saturday.
The Upper Hunter Show has been held in Muswellbrook since 1890. This year's show will be packed with entertainment, exciting rides and sideshow alley action for the entire family including the Rooftop Express Show, horse ring events, live music, fireworks, bulls broncs and barrels, tug-of-war, Upper Hunter showgirl, young farmer challenge, wife carrying competition, tent pegging, whip cracking and Demolition Derby. Jerrys Plains Community Fair
March 19: Jerrys Plains Recreation Grounds, Wambo Street. Time: 8am-1pm. Cost: Free.
The 10th Jerrys Plains Community Fair and Car Boot Sale, back after two years, will feature at least 55 stalls. On offer is live music and plenty of children's entertainment including a master magician, jumping castle and obstacle course. Jerrys Plains Rural Fire Brigade will have the barbecue firing all day and the school P&C will be serving up hot dogs and snow cones to raise funds for the Year 6 farewell.
Warbirds Over Scone
March 26-27: Bunnan Road, Scone. Time: 9am-5pm. Cost: $20 children (6-15)-$130 family (2A, 2C).
The skies above Scone will roar to life with amazing airborne displays. The 2022 event will have a massive line-up of historical warbirds, full-throttle aerobatic aeroplanes and an all-ages, family friendly festival experience. 150th Murrurundi Train Festival
Saturday, April 2: Maitland, Singleton or Muswellbrook railway stations. Time: 8am. Cost: $115 per person-$500 private compartment (8 people).
Enjoy riding behind steam power on a journey through the Hunter Valley from Maitland to Murrurundi to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Great Northern Railway reaching the town. You can start your journey at Maitland, Singleton or Muswellbrook railway stations, travelling through to Murrurundi. After arrival at Murrurundi, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the many charms of this picturesque town and participate in all the 150th celebrations on the day.
