It was a great day at Scone Golf Club for the playing of the Ladies Open Day on Thursday May 9. Tania Hutchins from Hunter Valley Golf and Country Club won her first Manning Cup with a round of 80 in heavy conditions.

The scratch runner up was Sue Wilks from Muswellbrook with 81. The major prize winners for each division were all Scone players with June Jukes 70 nett winning Division 1, Yvonne Palmer 73 nett winning Division 2, and Joan Faras winning Division 3 with 34 points.
Scone Golf Club is appreciative of the support of their day with fourteen clubs represented in the field of fifty-six for the shotgun start event. Prizes generously sponsored by Pam & Charlie Manning, Hunter Landscaping Design and Construct, The Linga Longa, Scone Isis Motel, Dawson Estate Agents, Muswellbrook Golf Shop and Beryl Phelps were extensive. Apart from the above winners the Division 1 nett prizes were then allocated to 2nd Leah Jamieson (Scone) 72, 3rd Kerry McLennan (Scone) 73, 4th Linda Overend (Pacific Dunes) 76 and 5th Sue Ford (Kurri) 77 nett. In Division 2 the prizes also on nett went to 2nd Christine Smith (Murrurundi) 73, 3rd Louise Mathews (Scone), 4th Lisa McNamara (Maitland) and 5th Ruth Wallace (Pacific Dunes) all on 75 nett.

Division 3 played Stableford with the following additional players receiving prizes- 2nd Gay Stanton (Merriwa) 32, 3rd Karen Johanson (Branxton) 31, and 4th Nic Robertson (Scone) 30 points on a countback.
June Jukes won the Beryl Phelps prize for the Best Stableford score by a Scone with 38 points, and also the Division 1 Long Drive whilst another local Leah Jamieson won the Division 1 NTP on the 13th.
Inclement weather affected the field for Saturday May 11 for the Hole Stableford sponsored by Daryl Dutton & Jock O'Connor. The winner was Glen Tarrant who had 37 points. Neil Clydsdale beat Gary Ritchie on a countback when they had 36 points each and the fourth prize went to Barry Wintle on 35 points also on a countback. Ball went to these players plus Lindsay Hodge 35, John Roe 34, David O'Donnell, Clayton Rogers 33, David Bradshaw, Paul Smart and Charlie Wintle 32 points.
The Weekly 18 Hole Medley Stableford concluding on Friday May 10 was won by Alister Fraser with 38 points on a countback from runner up Mick Alsleben. Balls were won by these players plus Tim Smith 36, Charlie Wintle, Huw Llewelyn 35, Jason Bear 34, Ben Christensen, Glen Tarrant, David Druce 32, Glenn Randell and Gary Ritchie 31 points on a countback.
This week at Scone golfers can play in the stableford weekly competition, the ladies will vacate their playing timeslot on Thursday for the Horse Festival event, whilst on Saturday May 18 an Individual & 2B Stableford event will be sponsored by Matt Langan and Mick Soper.
